2019 Ruffed Grouse Society Habitat Day
April 27th, 2019, 9:00am
The 2019 Lehigh Valley Ruffed Grouse Society habitat day is scheduled for Saturday, April 27th, 2019 Beginning at 9:00am. We will be providing habitat work this year at the Thomas Darling Nature Preserve in Blakeslee, PA. Once again, we are partnering with Wildland’s Conservancy as they have purchased this property and are providing this land for public use.
This year's project is to eliminate an abundance of young pin cherry saplings. These young trees are abundant and need to be thinned out in order for other species to take root. Manual trimming equipment will be provided. if you own a gas string trimmer, feel free to bring it along.
We will meet at 9:00am at the Wawa Convenience Store and Gas Station in Blakeslee. This Wawa is located on the corner of Hwy's 115 and 940 in Blakeslee about 1 mile from Hwy 80 (Blakeslee Exit #264). The Address is: 296 PA-940, Blakeslee, PA 18610. See above map. Our Habitat project is located approximately 1 mile from the Wawa.
As always, RGS will provide lunch.
We hope that you join us in our continuing efforts to provide new successional habitat for our ruffed grouse!
